The river Tagus

THE RIVER THAT RUNS THROUGH MY VILLAGE
The Tagus that saw the caravelas leave is resistant to everything. And it opens out, generously, to the West, when seen from the top of Restelo, from the lawn of the adorable Chapel of São Jerónimo: beyond the trees which today stand opposite, one senses the wide ocean, America, Brazil, the World.
From the book "Lisbon, the Tagus and the rest", by Marc Sarkis Gulbenkian (Photographs) and António Mega Ferreira (text), 2018.
